Because it does my heart good to see artists like the one in these pics enjoying my brand of guitars and making beautiful new music with them. There are more but I really like these pics. :D

Early inspiration. This was taken about 11-12 years ago when I was a junior in college on a music scholarship to play in a weird "super sax" jazz band. Edit: I should note that this wasn't my guitar, but it was the first handmade guitar I actually played (as opposed to looked at through a screen), and introduced me to Kevin.

And the constant feeding of new inspiration along the way.

There are so many reasons to love building, I love playing them, I love watching and hearing them played, I love playing with cool and weird tools, but the best part is sharing that joy and excitement with kids.

I have no related audio or video to support my position, but the reason I build Romanillos style classical guitars is Antigoni Goni's rendition of El Decameron Negro by Brouwer, on her Naxos Laureate CD

My love of playing the guitar is what really got me interested in building. But early on I realized that I was making a choice between being a player or a builder. I've chosen to build, and while I still play I'm sure not as good as when I was playing 4 hours of days back in my teens. I miss that. So I really enjoy getting to see a truly great player play one of my guitars.

I built the guitar in this video that is being played by JP Cormier on the left. (I'm not exactly sure how to get the video right in my post so you'll have to follow the link)

I met Tony McManus a few years back at a Michigan Fingerstyle Society concert and workshop and have since attended his guitar weekend workshops every November. I have had the privilege of him trying many of my guitars and listening to his Celtic fingerstyle skills on a guitar I have created. This was filmed at one of his concerts at the Trinity House Theater in Livonia Mi. Tony did a couple tunes on my Cocobolo Sitka OM.

Love of guitars and a nice challenge. Both traits appear to run in the family.

This is my father (with fiddle, at left) with his brother and sisters, and his father (in overalls). My Auntie Jo is holding a Washburn 1915 Model Perfect. My Aunt Polly, with a fiddle, is at right. She hand-tinted the photo. I hope this picture communicates our family's love of music, and our value of music as something that brings people together.

Made for my uncle that I have not seen in 20 years.
Made from lumber out of his daddy's barn that I snagged in the late 70's.
